April 19th. 2011 Update
The daily forums posting/new members stats here are taken by me each day at different times. There may be a 20 hour gap between each days stats, or 27 hours or whatever depending on when I have time to check them.

Recent Posting/New Member Stats

April 19th. 8.30am EST time. 22 hours since I last checked:

GWRRA:                                     -60 new posts (Moderators culling posts), 3 new members

Goldwingfacts.com:                   1043 new posts, 22 new members
Riders Rally:                                  11 new posts, 0 new members
Naked Goldwings:                       460 new posts, 1 new members

Some notes:

GWRRA gains 3 new members in the 22 hours since I checked yesterday. Unfortunately the Moderators have been culling posts again, which means post count is 60 lower than it was yesterday.
GL1800Riders leads on new posts today with 1121. They get 13 new members today.
Goldwingfacts.com just behind GL1800Riders on posts with 1043, but in front on new members with 22 in the last 22 hours.
Naked Goldwings having an excellent posting day with 460, and 1 new member.
NAGF on 88 posts and 4 new members.
Riders Rally on 11 new posts and 0 new members.
Goldwing Owners very busy today with 181 posts and 7 new members.
Goldwingdocs on 63 new posts today.

Member stats for this forum are not to be trusted, as fake members continue to be added to the database at a rate of at least 40 each day. Even casual visitors will see they are fake as they don't appear in the "who's online" panel at any time when they are registered or afterwards.

Hey Sam, good review! I got a GL1100 in 2008 and signed up on the Saunders/goldwingfacts forum, GWRRA Goldwingowners and NAGF.
Your comments on the GWRRA forum are on the mark. Great members but the management are out of touch with what we need/want.
NAGF is a tad quiet for my taste, but hey its free. Saunders/goldwingfacts is a lot busier and more interesting and also free, I can easily spend a lot of time there. Goldwingowners is a good board too, but the advertisements mean I get in, read what I need and get out of there as quickly as I can. I would spend longer there if they got rid of some of the adverts.

GWRRA up to their old tricks again, mass deleting members posts. Its good that we can at least expose it on places like this.
Good review Sam. I only use the GWRRA forum at present, but I will be looking hard at some of the forums you checked out.

Nice review, you did your homework. Just an observations: I don't think daily posts counts alone is relevant to a forums popularity, they are not in a race to see who gets most posts.
The number of new members registering is a more accurate indicator of how popular a forum is. All the post stats tell us is how busy a forum is, and they will all have different activity depending on the members themselves.
Thanks anyway for a good read.

Hi Ed. I agree in part. New member signups are probably more important. Post counts have a part to play too. But they can be a bit misleading for instance if you have a forum where most of the posting is done by only a few members, or by the owner of the board.
Even new member sign-ups can be misleading if for instance you get a lot of spam or bot registering. I rely on the forum owners to delete spammers and bots, and not to leave them there to swell the membership numbers.
It is all open to interpretation Ed. The posting figures are for basic information only and may mean different things to different people.
Thanks for your feedback.

Sam.
